Constellation Announces Three Senior Leadership Changes

BALTIMORE — Constellation, an Exelon company, and the nation’s leading competitive energy supplier has announced a series of changes to its senior leadership team.

In June, Dara Knobel transitioned to the role of vice president, Human Resources, replacing Jennifer Herwig, who rotated to the same position at BGE. An HR professional and leader for 23 years and a part of Exelon since 2010, Knobel brings a breadth of experience including executive coaching, talent management, HR operations, and the development of individuals, teams and organizations. Having rotated between various Exelon operating companies, she most recently served as vice president, Human Resources, for Exelon Utilities. In her new role, Knobel, will oversee all human resources efforts supporting Constellation's commercial retail and wholesale business.

In April, Shane Smith was promoted to vice president, Finance, overseeing the company’s financial forecasting, project analysis, performance indicators, and financial reporting. He replaces David Diaz, who was promoted senior vice president, Audit Services, Exelon, earlier this spring. Most recently, Smith helped lead Exelon Generation Strategy and was responsible for both short-term and long-term strategic development across the organization, with a focus on growing the Constellation business and improving valuation of Exelon Generation. He joined Constellation in 2006.

In March, David Donat was promoted to president & CEO, BGE HOME and Constellation Home, and senior vice president, Constellation. Donat fills the position vacated by Tamla Olivier, who transitioned to the role of chief customer officer for BGE earlier in the year. In his new role, Donat is responsible for guiding and growing one of the largest home energy service operations in the nation, which provides consumers in Maryland and Texas with energy-related solutions ranging from HVAC to home improvements. A part of Exelon since 1996, Donat most recently served as vice president, Commercial Business Solutions, overseeing technology investment, M&A planning, business integration, process improvement, and enterprise-wide cost optimization.

“Collectively, Dara, Shane, and David bring a tremendous amount of industry experience and distinctly polished skillsets to their respective business areas,” said Jim McHugh, CEO of Constellation. “We’re excited for them to assume these senior leadership positions and we take a great amount of pride in the fact that each represents internal, homegrown talent who have steadily ascended through our organization.”
