Jim McHugh Named CEO of Constellation

BALTIMORE — Jim McHugh has been named CEO of Constellation and executive vice president of Exelon. Formerly senior vice president of wholesale trading, McHugh replaces outgoing CEO Joe Nigro, who has been promoted to Exelon’s chief financial officer and senior executive vice president. The transition, effective immediately, was announced May 8 by Chris Crane, CEO of Exelon. Constellation is Exelon’s competitive retail and wholesale energy business, and provides an array of innovative energy products and services to approximately 2 million customers across the U.S.

“A respected leader already, Jim’s acumen and extensive industry experience will be valued assets as Constellation works to best serve its customers and further its position as the nation’s leading competitive energy provider,” said Ken Cornew, CEO of Exelon Generation and senior executive vice president at Exelon. “We congratulate Joe on his success since being named Constellation’s CEO in May 2013. He leaves Constellation well positioned for the future and we look forward to the continued impact he will make as Exelon’s CFO.”

In his new role, McHugh will become a member of the Exelon executive and risk management committees. He will report to Cornew.

“I am firm believer that the success of a leader, and a company overall, is driven by the strength of the greater team — and Constellation’s team is the best in the industry,” McHugh said. “I’m proud of this organization — both as a business and a community steward — and I could not be more excited to continue the innovative, industry-leading work we do every day.”

In his previous role, McHugh was responsible for wholesale trading and portfolio management of Exelon’s generation, load, transactions and contracted assets, with a focus on optimizing the value of the company’s national portfolio through its trading decisions.

McHugh is a member of the board of trustees of the Maryland Zoological Society, operator of the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Lehigh University, and a master’s of business administration in finance from Villanova University.
