Constellation Earns Top Honor from Calvert County Chamber of Commerce

On Dec. 5, 2025, the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce awarded Constellation with its Beacon of Light Recognition for Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center employees' "engagement in the spirit of philanthropy and community involvement."

"For 50 years now, Calvert Cliffs has not only powered Maryland with clean, reliable energy, it has powered the very heart of Southern Maryland through unwavering community commitment, service and partnership," wrote Jonathan Evans, of the Chesapeake Beach Town Council, in support of Constellation for the award. "Since its inception in 1975, generations of Calvert Cliffs employees have been committed to the mission to make Calvert County a better place to work, play and raise a family. Their dedication to service is not just a corporate initiative; it is a priority that the employees have embraced as their own."

In 2025:
 

• Calvert Cliffs celebrated its 50^th anniversary during National Volunteer Month with more than 70 employees and friends building 100 beds with the Sleep in Heavenly Peace organization, ensuring local children have a safe place to sleep. The event was filled with energy and gratitude, capped by a citation from Congressman Steny Hoyer’s office recognizing Constellation’s decades of impact.
  
  
• Calvert Cliff’s commitment to education came to life through the region’s first-ever STEM Center, created with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation at Southern Middle School. The project transformed a traditional room into a hub for hands-on learning and innovation.
  
  
• A $90,000 scholarship was launched with the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland, supporting students in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. As one recipient shared, "This scholarship isn't just financial support – it's encouragement to keep pushing toward my dreams."
  
  
• Calvert Cliffs employees partnered with Community Harvest Network during End Hunger Month, packaging nearly 1,700 holiday meals for local families.
  
  
• Through Constellation's CLEAN Awards, more than $100,000 was invested in Calvert County, supporting groups like the Chesapeake Bay Trust, Calvert Nature Society and Patuxent Tidewater Land Trust.
