Grab a pole and push out from shore for Constellation’s 21st annual Fishing for a Cure fundraiser. This year’s event will be held on April 30, 2022 from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Central Time on Braidwood Generating Station’s cooling lake in Braceville, Illinois. Teams of two anglers will compete for impressive cash prizes totaling $10,000 with first place reeling in $4,000, and second and third places winning $2,500 and $1,000, respectively. Top 10 finishers will win cash prizes. All proceeds from the $150-per-boat entry fee, raffles, and silent auctions will benefit Advocate Children’s Hospital.
Since 2002, Fishing for a Cure has raised more than $700,000 for local charities and non-profits. Most recently, the 2021 event raised $32,000 for First Northern Illinois Food Bank and Braidwood Community Care Center.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit Advocate Children’s Hospital. A child’s stay at the hospital can be scary, unpredictable, and stressful. With the proceeds from this year’s event, Advocate Children’s will be launching a virtual reality program using KindVR, which creates customized virtual reality support and distraction for various procedures, coping with hospitalization, and pain management.
Due to current Covid-19 conditions, we will not be hosting the Kids Derby this year.
