As President and Chief Executive Officer of Calpine and Senior Executive Vice President of Constellation Power Operations, Andrew Novotny is responsible for Constellation's non-nuclear generation operations, as well as Calpine's commercial and development activities. He serves on the Constellation Executive Committee, which sets strategy and direction for the company.
Constellation is America's largest producer of reliable and clean energy, with more than 55,000 megawatts of generating capacity from nuclear, wind, solar, natural gas, geothermal and hydro assets. The company also serves more than 2.5 million homes, businesses and public sector customers nationwide, including three-fourths of the Fortune 100.
Novotny joined Calpine in April 2012 as vice president of power trading. He was promoted to executive vice president of commercial operations in 2018, chief operating officer in 2021 and president of Calpine in 2023.
Prior to joining Calpine, Novotny served as vice president of financial gas and power trading at BG Group and as a vice president at Duke Energy.
Novotny serves on the board of the Greater Houston Partnership, which works to make Houston a leading place to live, work and build a business. Additionally, he is on the Constellation Foundation board, which was established to expand the company’s philanthropic mission and further its commitment to investing long term in the communities it serves.
Novotny earned a bachelor of arts from Vanderbilt University, graduating magna cum laude with high honors in economics. He also earned a master of business administration from Rice University, where he was named a Jones Scholar.
